25 Acts of Kindness

At Ricci’s Landscape Management, we recognize that we wouldn’t be where we are today without our loyal customers. That’s why for our 25th anniversary, we decided to celebrate by giving back to the community that’s supported us for over two decades with our 25 Acts of Kindness campaign.

Through our 2019 initiative, we dedicated ourselves to helping communities in Indiana by performing 25 random acts of kindness to stimulate growth and promote goodwill throughout the area. We serviced and donated to dozens of local organizations benefitting children, veterans, homeless communities and more. By the end of our campaign, our Indiana Acts of Kindness raised a total of $25,000.

Dedicated to the Community

The goal of RLM’s 25 Acts of Kindness was to raise money for local Indiana organizations as a thank you for keeping us in business for so many years.

We want to highlight some of the projects we completed during our 25 Acts of Kindness campaign to raise awareness for the wonderful groups we worked with throughout the initiative.

High Schools

We were excited to stop by Crown Point High School (CPHS) to give back to our founder’s alma mater. As an alumnus student-athlete and a lover of sports and academics, it was important to Dean Ricci that RLM support the school’s sports teams.

We made monetary donations to the CPHS Athletic Department, the boys’ basketball and lacrosse teams, the Crown Point Babe Ruth Program and St. Mary’s School.

Local Theaters

We understand the importance of the arts in the Indiana community, which is why we decided to give back to one of our local Valpo theaters — the Memorial Opera House. We wanted to help generate more publicity for this theater by improving their building’s exterior, donating and planting beautiful new flowers in their planters.

Nonprofits

During our 25 Acts of Kindness, we also donated to the 2019 World Relief Campaign, a nonprofit organization run by Valparaiso University’s Social Action Leadership Team (SALT). For their 2019 initiative, SALT partnered with Housing Opportunities to fund roof repairs in Valparaiso, Indiana. Housing Opportunities is a nonprofit dedicated to serving adults, children and seniors experiencing homelessness.

With our help, the 2019 World Relief Campaign raised enough money to replace the roof of a local women’s housing unit called Caroline’s Place.

Veterans’ Organizations

For our next Indiana act of kindness, RLM gave back to Veterans Life Changing Services (VLCS), a program committed to helping Indiana and Illinois veterans acclimate to civilian life. VLCS helps servicemen and women attain temporary housing, locate employment opportunities and pursue an education.

We contributed to the initiative by providing weekly mowing and maintenance services throughout VLCS’s entire 2019 season.

Child Care Centers

One of the first projects we undertook for our 25 Acts of Kindness was for Hilltop Neighborhood House, a child care center in Valpo that focuses on helping children build positive futures through education and community outreach. We helped this meaningful organization by removing dead tree stumps from their playground and planting healthy, new maple trees to provide shade for the children on sunny days.
